ABUSE!!!
Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Something on the news caught my attention. For once, I pitied the maids. Really, can their 'mdm' and 'sir' be sued? Felt like it is such an abuse.

The third phase of the primary school registration will be on this thursday. As usual, the well-known schools are really 'hunted' by parents. Perhaps I was from a neighbourhood primary school and thought that my parents had already gone through enough trouble to get me there that is why I think some parents are overboard.

Imagine this.
There are only 10 or even less than 10 vacancies left in the school.
Yet there is a queue of people outside the school 3days before the thursday.
With even the current weather of unpredicted showers, storms and scotching, scalding heat.
Tents pitched (literally). Cardboards. Just outside the school compound, next to the fence.
For a moment one may think, "Wow, these parents are really so ks!" or "What self-less parents are they, to queue for their children's future!"
Next moment, a filipino maid emerged from the tent.
She said, "Queue for mdm's son. What to do?"
She was one of the many.

I couldn't help but exclaimed this in front of my family, "Abuse!!!" I'm not usually the 'human-right' type of person but seeing that on the news was really like, "Are these kids the filipino? Where are their parents? If it's really for your child can't one of the parents do the honour instead? Is that the legal, to make your maid do that days of queueing?" I just find it so-not-right. It is E-V-I-L. Now whoever thinks I'm mean and evil, think again.

ABUSE!!!

Randomized

Signs showing that you are either 75% asleep or 75% awake, but never 100% awake.

1. $1.60+$0.80 = $2.60
Even standing there for 10whole seconds and asked, "Hmmmm isn't it $2.60?"
Go figure that out.

2. Within 100m range and clear visibility, the word 'inspiration' was read as 'aspiration'.

3. Lost count of the number of times "I'm sleepy. My eyes are getting smaller" was murmured.

My entries are so short these days, do not really know what to update with.
What else to look forward to but wednesday when my lecturer is going to ask, "What IR events happpened these few days?" Again. Me, in the most innocent tone, answered, "World Peace."

Weird....
Friday, August 17, 2007

Finally got my hair cut. Rather short.

I'm weird.

1. After weeks of indecisive decision, I finally got a haircut.
2. Instead of getting a pair of sandals, I got a pair of sneakers and flats. Hmmmm....
3. I bought a novel thinking I need to read something, when I have lots of other stuff to read-up.
4. All the tops I gotten are yellow.
5. I'm still as indecisive.

KA-CHING
Written by: S. Twain/ R. Lange

We live in a greedy little world
that teaches every little boy and girl
To earn as much as they can possibly
then turn around and
Spend it foolishly

We've created us a credit card mess
We spend the money we don't possess
Our religion is to go and blow it all
So it's shoppin' every Sunday at the mall

All we ever want is more
A lot more than we had before
So take me to the nearest store

Can you hear it ring
It makes you wanna sing
It's such a beautiful thing--Ka-ching!

Lots of diamond rings
The happiness it brings
You'll live like a king
With lots of money and things

When you're broke go and get a loan
Take out another mortgage on your home
Consolidate so you can afford
To go and spend some more when you get bored

Let's swing

Dig deeper in your pocket
Oh, yeah, ha
Come on I know you've got it
Dig deeper in your wallet
Oh

Materialistic. The world we live in. Juz another random thought. How randomized are my thoughts these days....Pretty much the truth isn't it?

ALMOST PERFECT. YET WEIRD
Wednesday, August 01, 2007

Today's a weird day, perhaps a little weird for it to be a rather perfect one.

Seeing I was already late for school I called for a cab. Yes, booked a cab. I'm so not used to attending lectures at 12noon. Before the arrival of the cab, the driver actually called to inform me that he just needed to make a U-turn and he spotted me already, very politely. For the 20+minutes journey he actually talked to me almost everything from the general politics to credit cards to his life and all the way to how he becomes a taxi driver. Stunning. Upon destination, he told me to study hard and remember to treasure the opportunities that I have. And he didn't even charge the booking fees and even deducted the taxi fare itself. Really. I'm a complete stranger to him and I was really impressed. Thanks Uncle Low. He's a Citycab driver by the way, not the Comfort one (whom I have 2 bad experiences with).

My International Relations lecture only consists of 25 students and apparently about 9 were missing today. The lecturer is petite for a guy. He said, "Introduce yourselves and why you chose IR."
My reply,"Hi, (intro blah blah). Honestly speaking I chose IR 50% out of interest and curiosity and the other 50% not really much choice since I've taken POA last year. (Blah blah). Like you mentioned, IR is a alive subject, but I don't really favour writing essays, but it seems like I don't have much of a choice, so guess just to work on it. Yup."
I was so frank but well who cares, there are only 25 other people. Curiosity kills the cat, I nearly added that.

And after class I went down to Suntec to join Val to queue for donuts!!! Got to thanks Val for waiting for me and queueing for 20min before my arrival. It was for the moment that I decided I want to queue for that cuz I always thought it's dumb to do so. Well, it's only half an hour and another half hour while we bought 2 side ones to be eaten on the spot. I got to say it's nice, nicer than the one @Vivo, whatever it is called. I bought 4 half-dozens of which only 1 box is mine. I gave 2away for surprises and 1for along-the-way for another friend. Call it waste of money for my very little pay but I just find it nice to give once-in-awhile surprise.

After so many weeks, a mini getaway and seeing my friends and surprises concluded my day. A day that I'd label as satisfying. 3.5stars/5. I'm a satisfied girl for today. Smiling. Meow!
