Upon watching THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW for the seventh time on Sunday, one of the dialogues caught my attention.
"People will have to stay indoor and burn whatever they can to keep warm. After that, they pray."
And quoted from Pearl Harbor, "No radio, no transmitter, we're back in 19th century."
Some time back, perhaps most of us had the experience that though we are using broadboard or anything faster than that, the Taiwan earthquake that led to damages of the underwater cable, made us feel like we were using dial-up and there were many sites that we could hardly enter. The repair process was also kind of delayed due to further natural factors.
Man never fails to improve on technology since it is mentioned that we are the modern species. We invaded spaces of the animal kingdom and even the dead --- mummy and cementries. People broke into "coffins" of mummy knowing that they can find jewels and precious out of them, and of course, not remembering that they have destroy something that has escaped death. It's said by many historians and archelogists that mummy is the "preserve" of the living. They need not be cemented nor buried with the fear of being invaded by flesh-eating maggots. They are so nicely, in fact to me, perfectly, preserved that they actually aid in the future studies of the past. To support the living population, the dead have to make space. I got nothing against that. It's just a matter of fact that we got to be practical that's all.
Most of the time our reliance on technology leads us to many handicaps as well. I'm relying on technology as well. Yes, perhaps I can live a couple of weeks without my computer, couples of days without my food, weeks without tv, but after that period of time, I need these "necessities" back to my life. I just simply find it sad that Man is attempting to outbeat nature with more and more advanced technology and at the same time, destroying earth.
It's like by the end of the day, after doing whatever we can, we pray and hope that it will succeed.
By the end of the day, should there be any disasters, we pray.
GO GREEN!!!
Random thoughts.
As quoted from Azhar's blog who quoted from Trilogy of the Sword of Shannara (Book 1), "Science has only existed for two reasons - to find a better way to live and a faster way to kill."
