Stunning News

An extract from Azhar's blog which I couldn't help but agree totally. It's just totally absurd, totally.

"Was out with the MJ-Bowen group of people at PS today. We had an early dinner and went to Ben & Jerry at The Cathay to chill. Had a good time, catching up and being entertained by the live band over there. However, I was informed that my secondary school, Bowen Sec, had changed it's logo, motto, vision and mission - I was taken aback.

If I had a say, I would 110% not agree with the idea of revamping the school to such an extent. I know that he has a very positive aim to ensure that the students there excel in their academic performance and that I agree whole heartedly with him. But going to an extent of changing the logo? I think it is absurd!

To me, changing the logo and motto basically deleted the history of Bowen. It is as good as calling the school a different name! As an ex-student, how could I say that I was from that school when the logo, motto, vision and mission are not similar to the one I was instilled with? A simple act like that had just deleted 4 years of my secondary school experience. There goes, along with it, memories such as preparation for the SYF, organizing Speech Day and school performance, talking outside the classroom after recess and all other memorable experiences. I felt that it robes the sense of belonging of ex-students to the school.

Sigh~ Whatever it is, I am in no position to influence the decision. All I can do is to wallow in my own thoughts. Perhaps one day, Bowen will be the top 10 secondary school in Singapore but my secondary school will still be the ordinary neighbourhood school that accepts mediocre students and exposed us to non-academic experience which is more useful in life."

Was so bend-on downloading my maths revision paper and completing it tonight, but for whatever reason, I simply can't find it in any folder. I think I should do some other tutorials then.
It was a simple fare of dinner. Short. Simple. Perhaps like what I told Christina when she asked, "You hang around with us (older than me) too much later you become how?" No worry. Like what I told you, I always have this "youngsters" with me to balance things.
